I've been toying with learning a new language in my present old age and Estonian and Latvian just moved up on my shortlist!

I have always wondered what impact Communism has made on either losing or preserving such historical data in these areas. Do you have any insight in this area? (historical spanking , etc, anecdotes, not the languages)
